Build the team that beats your opponents in Marvel Puzzle Quest
Mark the characters you own and the site simulates the fights turn by turn with the game's real powers: it tells you your best trio, who beats each opponent and which character each support should go on.
🚀 Start in 3 steps
In All characters tap ✓ on every character you own. Then, in My roster, set their power levels as you have them in the game.
Team Lab tries hundreds of thousands of trios from your roster and shows you the strongest one, with the reasons behind each.
In Versus or Event enter the opponents and their level: it tells you which team beats them, who to attack first and what their dangerous power is.
🗺️ What each section does
⚙️ How it works
🎲 It simulates the fight turn by turn: how much AP each team gathers, when each power fires, how much damage it deals and who falls first. It's not a "best characters" tier list: it depends on your roster and on those opponents.
📖 It uses the game's own texts and numbers for your level of each power.
✅ It learns from your fights: with the «Won / Lost with this one» buttons the site remembers which team beat which opponents and puts it first next time.
🔒 Everything stays in your browser: no account needed. To keep it if you clear your browser or to use it on another device, sign in (optional) from 👤: we only store your profiles, not your email or name.

Marvel Puzzle Counters is free and ad-free. If it helps you win, a donation keeps it online and improving (new characters, rebalances, a more accurate simulation).
❓ FAQ
Is this an official Marvel Puzzle Quest site?
No. Marvel Puzzle Counters is an independent fan-made project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Marvel, Disney or the game's studios.
Where does the data come from?
From the game's own texts and numbers, the official site and the fan wiki, checked against screenshots and real fights.
How accurate is the recommendation?
It's a guide: the board has luck and the game changes with every update. If a team loses, mark it with «Lost with this one» and the site will take it into account.
Do I lose my roster if I close the page?
No, it's saved in this browser. If you clear your browser data or use another device, you'll have to mark it again. To never lose it, sign in with Google from 👤 (optional): your roster is saved in the cloud and comes back on any device.
📚 Glosario
- Bloqueada (Locked)
- Salud temporal (burst heal)
- Nodo

🟦 Tiles
- Basic tile
- A colored tile with nothing special. Matching it gives AP of its color and deals that color's match damage.
- Strike
- Special tile with a number: while it's on the board, every hit from its owner (matches and powers) deals that much extra damage. Damage = base + Strike − the opponent's Protect, minimum 1.
- Attack
- Special tile with a number: at the end of its owner's turn it deals that damage to the opponent, even if the whole team is stunned. If it's destroyed first, it doesn't hit.
- Protect
- Special tile with a number: reduces every hit its owner's team takes by that amount (never below 1 damage). They belong to the team: they don't go away when a character is downed.
- Countdown
- Goes down 1 on each of its owner's turns and fires its effect at 0. If the opponent matches or breaks it first, it's lost. If its owner is stunned it doesn't tick that turn, and if its owner is downed it turns into a basic tile.
- Repeater
- Like a countdown, but it fires its effect every turn while it lasts.
- Trap
- A tile hidden from the opponent: it fires when matched (depending on the power, only if the opponent matches it). It works even if its owner is stunned and turns basic if its owner is downed. The game's AI matches hidden traps like any other tile.
- Critical
- Appears when you match 5 tiles. It keeps changing color and matches with any of them. If you include it in a match, that match deals much more damage and gives extra AP.
- Charged
- Belongs to no team: whoever matches it deals triple damage and gets triple AP from that tile. Some characters (Storm, Thor, Gambit…) create them and use them in their powers. Match them before the opponent gets the chance.
- Web
- Spider characters' tile: many of their powers get stronger for each web on the board.
- Invisibility
- Makes a character invisible while it's on the board. Removed by matching it or if its creator is downed.
- Fortified
- A tile with a glowing border. Powers can't destroy or change it, and matching it doesn't destroy it: it only loses the fortification. It stays if its creator is downed.
- Locked
- A tile that can't be moved and whose effect is paused. It unlocks when matched or destroyed.
Team-Up- A tile that is on the board from the start. Matching it gives Team-Up AP and deals damage; that AP fires a team-up power mid-fight (single use per fight). Captain Marvel (Ms. Marvel) 2★ converts up to 5 tiles into Team-Up tiles. Event tip: if the opponent brings a dangerous team-up and you put that character on your team, the opponent can't use it.
🔋 AP and matches
- AP
- Action points of each color. You gather them by matching tiles and spend them to fire powers.
- Match
- Lining up 3 or more tiles of the same color. Deals damage and gives AP of that color.
- Match-4
- Gives you an extra turn.
- Match-5
- Creates a Critical tile and gives you an extra turn.
- Cascade
- Matches that form on their own when new tiles fall. They also give AP and deal damage.
- Drain / steal AP
- Draining removes AP (yours or the opponent's) without giving it to you; stealing moves it to you.
💫 Statuses
- Stunned
- Can't fire powers or passives for those turns. Its countdowns don't tick either.
- Airborne
- Rises for a few turns: takes no damage from matches or most powers.
- Away
- Leaves the fight for a few turns: takes no damage and fires no powers, then comes back.
- Invisible
- Can't be targeted and isn't in front while someone visible remains. Team-wide damage and random-target attacks still reach it.
- Downed
- Reached 0 health and is out of the fight.
- Burst heal
- An instant heal, all at once (not over several turns).
- Permanent damage
- Damage that also lowers max health: that part can't be healed.
- In front
- The character that takes the opponent's hits. Some powers move someone else to the front.
⭐ Characters
- Rarity (★)
- From 1★ to 6★. More stars, more health, damage and max level.
- Covers
- Each cover raises one of its powers by 1 level (5 max per power). The split is how you have them, e.g. 5/5/3.
- Locked power
- A power with 0 covers: it can't be used. The site doesn't count it.
- Champion level
- Extra levels once the character has all its covers.
- Ascended / descended
- A character that moved up (or down) in rarity. In a rarity-locked node it counts as that rarity.
- Native
- A character that has been that rarity from the start (not ascended).
- Boosted
- A character an event raises in level during that fight.
- Support
- An item equipped on a character. Each rank unlocks a perk, and the synergy activates with certain characters.
- Affiliation
- The group it belongs to (X-Men, Avengers, Villains…). Some powers and supports depend on it.
- Node
- Each fight in an event. It can bring boosted enemies, a fixed rarity and an enemy team-up.
💰 Game currencies
ISO-8- Levels up characters and is used to ascend them.
Hero Points (HP)- Buy roster slots for new characters, chances at covers and packs. You save them up slowly or buy them with real money.
Command Points (CP)- Get covers of 4★ and higher characters and level up their powers.
🎯 How to beat each type of opponent
Kill or stun the stunner first. Bring someone who turns invisible, goes airborne or heals. Don't leave your best character in front when the opponent is close to firing.
Spend your AP as soon as you can; don't save it for an expensive power. Cheap powers and match damage work best.
Like 5★ Doctor Strange: every power you fire hurts you. Hit them more with matches, stun them and fire your powers only when they're worth it.
Match or break their countdowns before they reach 0. In All characters, filter by «⏱ Removes enemy countdowns».
Bring powers that break or steal special tiles, or that ignore protects. Filter by «🧹 Removes enemy special tiles».
Big damage at once on the same character, and stun it so it can't heal.
Team-wide damage still reaches them. Filter by «💥 Damages the whole team».
If none of your teams beats them, the site warns you. In Versus it's better to skip the fight and find another opponent.
